Comparison · DIY builders
Wix, Squarespace, and GoDaddy are fine for hobby projects and first websites. They stop being fine the year your business actually starts to scale. Most owners we work with hit the ceiling around the time their annual revenue clears $1 million and the site stops feeling like an asset and starts feeling like a chore.
What changes when you switch
Inbound stops being random.
The site, the listings, the review pipeline, and the follow-up automation run on the same wire. A lead from an organic search and a lead from a missed call go through the same intake.
Speed stops costing you customers.
53% of mobile visitors leave a site that takes longer than three seconds to load. A DIY-builder home page on a paid plan averages five. We ship at one.
The bill stops sneaking up.
One monthly invoice replaces the stack of subscriptions you collected to make the builder do what a real system does — booking, CRM, email, SEO, automations.
You stop being the system.
The platform sells you the canvas and walks away. We run the system, with everything on page 1. We don’t promise revenue we can’t underwrite — we guarantee the build, the ship date, your ownership, and your right to leave.

We’re not anti-DIY. Wix and Squarespace are reasonable first websites. We’re against running a business that depends on them after the business has grown past the use case they were built for.
Looking at a specific platform?
Deep dive 01
Every drag-and-drop builder ships its theme engine, its tracker, its image pipeline, and a few hundred kilobytes of legacy JavaScript inside every page. That’s the cost of the canvas being easy to edit. The customer pays for it in load time, and you pay for it in the customers who never see the page.
We don’t ship a theme engine. We ship the page. A typical NovraScale build clears 90 on Google’s mobile PageSpeed scoring; the median Wix Pro homepage we audit lands in the 40s. The difference shows up in your call volume the week we launch.
The math
At 1,000 monthly mobile visitors, going from a 4.8s LCP to a 1.6s LCP recovers an estimated 160–220 sessions per month that were bouncing before they ever saw your offer.
Google’s own Core Web Vitals research benchmarks a 24% bounce-rate reduction for sites moving from poor to good LCP. We use that as the conservative floor when we run ROI math on a pre-build call.
Deep dive 02
On a builder, the platform owns the website. You rent it. If the bill lapses, the site disappears. If the platform changes its terms — and they all have — you live with it.
When we ship a NovraScale build, you own the domain, the GitHub repo, the Cloudflare account, the GA4 property, the CRM, the review pipeline, and the email sender. Your name on every account. We run the system because you hired us to. The day you don’t want to, the system is still yours.
What you walk away with on Day 1
Deep dive 03
The unfair advantage of running a custom build is that the site is one component in a system that all reports the same metric: did the customer get what they came for, fast enough that they didn’t go to a competitor.
When you swap a DIY builder for a managed system, the lead doesn’t land in your inbox at 11:42 p.m. waiting for you to read it. It hits the CRM, fires a text-back to the customer in under sixty seconds, books an appointment if you offer that, and queues a review request for forty-eight hours after the job is done. Five subscriptions worth of work, in one wired loop.
What runs after 8 p.m.
0:00
Customer calls. You’re on another job. Missed.
0:45
Auto-text-back hits them: “Got your call — how can I help?”
2:10
They reply, the conversation routes to your CRM and your inbox.
Next AM
You call back already knowing what they need. They didn’t call your competitor.
What a client said
“NovraScale made my new website, improved my SEO, and setup my Google Business Profile, and it all came together seamlessly. I was completely hands off. I’ve seen a significant increase in new patients finding me online. If you’re a small business owner on the fence about investing in your digital presence, this is who you call.”
Moving over
01
Audit what's there.
Free Report Card scans your current site for the issues that are pushing customers to a competitor. Takes two minutes; no call required.
02
Plan the replacement.
30-minute call. We show you what to keep, what to rebuild, and the ROI math on the move. Three tiers, recommended one flagged.
03
Run in parallel.
Your DIY site stays live while we build. The Quick-Win Sprint (Day 1–7) wires the missed-call text-back and review pipeline before the new site launches.
04
Cut over, then manage.
DNS flips to the new site. We cancel the subscriptions the DIY stack required. Monthly management runs the system from there.
Common objections
If it works fine and the business it serves is growing fine, you shouldn't. The Report Card is free and it'll tell you flatly whether you're losing customers to speed, search visibility, or off-hours leads. If you're not, we'll tell you not to switch.
Up front: yes. Monthly: usually less. A scaling Wix or Squarespace business typically runs the platform, a premium template, two or three Velo/plugins, an SEO add-on, an email tool, a booking tool, and a contractor to keep them talking to each other. Total it up. Compare to one NovraScale monthly fee.
We preserve the URL structure that's already ranking, set up 301 redirects on every URL that changes, port your existing content, and submit a new sitemap on launch day. The rankings you already have carry over, and a faster site is easier for Google to crawl and index.
Yes. The Forge Method ships with a content editor for the pages and copy that change — services, locations, blog posts. The structural code stays under version control. You get the canvas without inheriting the maintenance burden.
