Comparison · Webflow

A Webflow site is well-designed.
Well-designed isn’t well-running.

Webflow is real craft. It’s where designer-developers build the best-looking small-business sites on the internet, and the platform’s CMS, animation, and editorial control beat Wix or Squarespace by a wide margin. Where the model breaks for a service business: the Webflow designer is usually a freelancer, the site is a brochure, and the system around the site — local SEO, missed-call recovery, review pipeline, CRM — is your problem the day the launch invoice clears.

What changes when you switch

Four things a beautifully-built Webflow site doesn’t do.

Catch the after-hours customer.

Webflow Forms posts to your inbox. We ship a missed-call text-back that responds inside sixty seconds — on Day 3, before the new build even launches.

Earn ongoing 5-star reviews.

Reviews come from a system, not a request the owner remembers to make. Our review pipeline fires 48 hours after every completed job.

Run the local-search game.

Schema markup, GBP, dedicated location pages, ongoing content tuned to the queries your customers run. Most Webflow builds stop at meta tags.

Stand behind the work.

Webflow can’t guarantee what your business earns — they’re a platform. Neither can we, and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something. What we put in writing on page 1: the build, the ship date, Day-1 ownership, and a performance exit.

Side by side

NovraScale vs. Webflow — on what actually matters.

Dimension

NovraScale

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Site speed

NovraScale

Static-first, edge-delivered. Hero paints in under 2.5s before staging is signed off.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Webflow hosts and serves the site, runs the editor framework on every page, and ships the interactions runtime even when you don’t use it. Mobile PageSpeed typically lands in the 50s–70s.

What you actually own

NovraScale

Domain, repo, hosting, CRM, GA4 — all in your name on Day 1. The codebase is yours, exportable, runnable anywhere.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

You can export the static HTML/CSS from Webflow, but the CMS, forms, and interactions die outside Webflow’s hosted runtime. In practice, leaving Webflow means rebuilding the dynamic parts.

CMS limits

NovraScale

No collection-item limits, no per-form-submit caps. The codebase doesn’t bill per record.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Webflow Site Plans cap collection items (Basic 2K, CMS 10K, Business 10K, Enterprise variable) and form submissions (50/mo on free, 1K on Lite, 2.5K on CMS, 10K on Business).

Real monthly cost

NovraScale

One management fee. Site, hosting, lead system, ongoing SEO, support — included.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Webflow Site Plan + Workspace plan + form-submission overages + freelance designer retainer for changes + external CRM + external SEO tool. Webflow plans scale quickly with traffic and CMS use.

Who runs it after launch

NovraScale

We do. Bug fixes, content changes, SEO tuning, integration tweaks — included in the management contract.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Usually the freelance Webflow designer who built it. Unless they’re on a retainer, the engagement ends at launch — same handoff cliff as any freelancer build.

Lead system

NovraScale

Missed-call text-back, GBP optimization, automated review pipeline, CRM intake — wired together, live in the first 7 days.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Webflow Forms posts to your inbox or a Logic webhook. Anything beyond — text-back, review pipeline, CRM routing — is wiring you (or your designer) does manually.

Local SEO depth

NovraScale

Schema markup, location pages, GBP integration, content built for the local-search queries your customers run. Engineered into the build.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Webflow handles meta tags and sitemaps well. Beyond that — schema control, dedicated location pages, programmatic SEO at scale — depends on the designer’s depth.

What you keep if it ends

NovraScale

You own the codebase, domain, hosting, CRM and content from Day 1, transferred to your accounts at launch rather than on exit. Full terms in Section 5.

Webflow (and a Webflow designer)

Webflow’s terms cover platform uptime, not the outcome of your site. No risk-reversal on the build itself.

If you’re a design-led brand, a portfolio business, or an agency selling creative work, Webflow stays a strong choice. The comparison gets real for the service business that needs the site to be one piece of a running customer-acquisition system, not a beautiful canvas.

Deep dive 01

Webflow designer + Webflow site is still a freelancer engagement.

Most Webflow sites in the small-business market are built by a freelance Webflow designer. The build itself is often excellent. The model is the same model as any freelancer engagement: the relationship ends at launch unless you negotiate a retainer, the designer moves on, and the system around the site — SEO, lead capture, CRM, review pipeline — was never in scope.

The Forge Method is the opposite shape. The build is one phase of a five-phase engagement, the management retainer takes over from there, and the team is on the contract — not on a personal availability window.

What the management retainer covers

  • Bug fixes — included, no per-ticket invoice
  • Content updates — services, locations, blog, hours
  • Ongoing local SEO — schema, GBP, new keywords
  • Review pipeline — automation tuning, response tone
  • Lead capture — form changes, CRM routing, integrations
  • Quarterly performance audit — speed, SEO, conversion

Deep dive 02

Webflow pricing scales with use. The math gets ugly at scale.

Webflow plans look reasonable on the marketing page. The bill grows when your site grows: CMS plans escalate at 10K-item ceilings, form submissions cap by plan, Logic billable executions scale, and the Workspace tier is a separate line. For a SMB whose site lives at modest scale, the spread vs. the headline plan is hidden. For a SMB scaling content or forms — a multi-location service business, a content-heavy marketing site — the bill stops being small.

We charge one management fee, irrespective of CMS volume or form submission count. The platform doesn’t bill per record because we don’t run a platform; we run your site.

Webflow Site Plan ceilings (typical)

  • Basic

No CMS, no forms beyond the 50/month free tier. Static site only.

  • CMS

2,000 CMS items, 2,500 form submissions/month. Most SMBs outgrow this within a year.

  • Business

10,000 CMS items, 10,000 form submissions/month, custom code injection.

  • Enterprise

Custom pricing. Negotiated at the point you've outgrown Business.

Plus Workspace plans (per-collaborator) and Logic execution overages on top.

Deep dive 03

“I’ll just export from Webflow” doesn’t work.

Webflow does support exporting static HTML/CSS — better than Wix or Squarespace, which don’t. The trap: the export is static. The CMS, the Forms, the Logic flows, the User Accounts, and the interactions that use Webflow’s runtime stop working the moment the site leaves Webflow’s hosting. The dynamic parts are what made the site useful; you keep the visuals and lose the function.

When we ship a NovraScale build, the codebase is yours, native, and portable. No platform runtime to lose. The whole site — including the CMS, the forms, the integrations — moves with you on Day 1 because it was yours on Day 1.

What survives a Webflow export

  • Survives

Static HTML, CSS, the design, the assets, the typography.

  • Dies

CMS collections, Webflow Forms processing, Logic flows, User Accounts, ecommerce, interactions runtime.

  • Result

You inherit a static brochure and need to rebuild the dynamic site around it.

What a client said

“NovraScale made my new website, improved my SEO, and setup my Google Business Profile, and it all came together seamlessly. I was completely hands off. I’ve seen a significant increase in new patients finding me online. If you’re a small business owner on the fence about investing in your digital presence, this is who you call.”

Moving over

How we take a Webflow site and replace the engagement underneath it.

01

Audit the Webflow site.

Free Report Card scans the current site for speed, SEO, and trust issues. Two minutes.

02

Plan the system, not just the site.

30-minute strategy call. We map what the Webflow build covers, what it doesn't, and what the new system adds. ROI math against your actual numbers.

03

Run in parallel.

Your Webflow site stays live. The Quick-Win Sprint wires the missed-call text-back, GBP, and review pipeline in your first 7 days.

04

Cut over, retire the subs.

DNS points to the new site. Webflow Site Plan, Workspace plan, and any Logic-based add-ons get cancelled. Monthly management replaces everything.

Common objections

The questions every Webflow owner asks first.

My Webflow site is beautiful. Why move?

It probably is. The Report Card is free and it'll tell you flatly whether the beauty is also producing customers. If it is, we tell you to stay. If the site looks great and inbound is flat, the problem isn't the design — it's the system, or the lack of one.

My Webflow designer was great. Why not just hire them again?

If they're available, on retainer, and want to build the system around the site — that's a fine path. The cases where this comparison matters are: the designer moved on, the designer doesn't do SEO or lead automation, or you're paying a designer hourly to add what should have been part of the original engagement.

Can I keep using the Webflow CMS for the blog?

We rebuild the blog as part of the engagement — same content, faster delivery, better schema markup. The Webflow CMS is solid, but it's tied to the Webflow runtime. Keeping it would mean keeping the Site Plan, which defeats the move.

Won't custom be way more expensive than Webflow?

Up front, yes. Monthly, usually less. A growing business on Webflow typically runs a Business Site Plan, a Workspace plan, an external CRM, an SEO tool, and a designer retainer for changes. Add it up. We run the math live on the strategy call.
